2. Aidan Grimshaw - Is This Love
3. The Pierces - Close My Eyes
4. Amy Meredith - Carry On
5. Atomic Kitten - The Last Goodbye
6. Bastille - Overjoyed
7. Diana Vickers - Four Leaf Clover
8. Sarah Connor - I'm Gonna Find You
9. Oh Land - Break The Chain
10. Jay Sean - Do You
11. Milow - California Rain

What do to when you forget your lines: Sarah Connor lessons

German pop queen Sarah Connor recently attended the White Nights Festival in Russia (June 13-15) and sang a cover of Son Of A Preacher Man and, of course, her biggest hit From Sarah With Love.

She sounded & looked flawless (as usual) and she managed to forget some of her lines (as usual), singing the wrong lines at 3.29 and 3.47. I love it when that happens, cause it happens to her a lot and she has different techniques for dealing with it:

1. She repeats a line she already sang and pretends nothing happened (1st vid - 4.35, 2nd vid - 1.17)
2. She hums something unintelligible (1st vid - 4.29, 3rd vid - 2.43)
3. She starts laughing/waving and pretends to communicate with someone from the audience (4th vid - 1.05), and of course the common one
4. She points the mic to the audience like she wants them so sing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not making fun of her, I just find it really entertaining and she handles it like a pro every time :) Plus, I imagine it's funnier for her than for us, I'm surprised she manages to keep a straight face.

Waiting for Milow's new music....

...is so frustrating. Milow is one of my fave singers and his music is kinda similar to Jason Mraz's. He hasn't had much success in US or UK, only around Europe, although his cover of 50 Cent's Ayo Technology (better than the original) was a huge hit. Despite the fact that he's spewing out some weird oil in the vid.

Yeah, a lot of his videos are weird like that, so if you're into it, check out these beauties - Little In The Middle (stuff and people buried in concrete) and She Might She Might (people buried in bubble gums). And one of my fave songs, You And Me (In My Pocket).

He's been tweeting like crazy for the past few weeks about making his new album, posting pics of the studio and stuff so hopefully we won't have to wait too long for new music and new disturbing videos <3

Britney - Ooh La La lyric video

When these lyric videos started coming out I wasn't into them at all, but lately they've been making them really fun and often even better that real music vids. Here's the lyric vid for Britney's latest single (debuted this week at the low no.85 on Billboard Hot 100) Ooh La La. (I'm still waiting for the real thing though.)

Jay Sean's new album coming up

Jay Sean is finally releasing his new album, Neon, on July 30. After delaying it for several times since all of his latest singles flopped (Hit The Lights, Like This Like That, I'm All Yours, Sex 101). Yeah, that's a lot of flops, although some of them were pretty good so it's a shame. I'm still mad he didn't release Movie as a single, (the song is amazing) but whatever.

He recently had his fans choose his new album cover, offering them several pics, and the one that won was this one:

I think it's pretty good, although he could've changed the font, he's been using it since his 2nd album, and it's not really that great. The album is out July 30 and here's the tracklist, too:

1.    Neon
2.    Luckiest Man
3.    Words
4.    Where you are
5.    Guns and Roses

The 1st single from the album is Where You Are, which I love. It's not as good as some of his songs from the past 3 albums, but it's quite catchy and has a nice video, too.

Still, the song wasn't successful at all so he hurried to release Mars (no.6 on the album) as the 2nd single, which is not as good as Where You Are. It's a slow and forgettable song, and I don't see it helping his new album at all.

Banana: Rihanna vs Dana

Yesterday I came across (it's a long story) a video on YouTube that I just had to share. It's a video by a he/she Israeli pop singer Dana International. The part of the video that especially caught my eye starts at 1.50. Take a look:

When I saw the whole thing I just thought of Rihanna's S&M video. Fast forward to 3.31 if you can't stand to watch this whole hyperactive mess and you'll see the same fruit featuring there, too. Other than that, both vids include a lot of crazy faces and creepy/desperate scenes.

So, who used the banana better, Rihanna or Dana? Who did it more tastefully (if that's even possible here)? I'd say it's a tie...

Ooh La La - Britney video caps

Those who are up to date on the pop world could not have missed the news that Britney has a new song for the soundtrack of Smurfs 2 called Ooh La La. I couldn't care less about Smurfs movies, but whatever... The song is actually fitting for the movie (I guess), meaning that it's basically for kids. It sounds like something she would've recorded on her 1st CD.

Surprisingly, there will also be a video for the song. No word yet on when it'll come out, but there are a few screen caps that have leaked:

Knowing Brit's team the video will probably have 70% movie scenes and 30% Britney. At least she looks great (as usual) :) Also, she said in a recent radio interview that her kids also appear in the video, so that should be... fun? I guess...

A quick trip to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 mountain

After a quick look at the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 charts (a new column I introduced to my blog) I had several impressions I needed to share.

I had just listened to Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines for the 1st time, the #1 song for several weeks, since it was basically impossible to avoid, and... I just don't get it. I don't get the song, the video, Pharrell's role in it... Why is it so popular, I have no clue...

On the other hand, the #2 song is definitely my jam right now - Daft Punk's Get Lucky. It's a real summer track and I love it.

Let's see, what other songs did I want to mention... Definitely not Justin's Mirrors (aka Cry Me A River pt.2), I just can't at how he just basically made a copy of his own song... Next.

Pink ft. Nate Ruess - Just Give Me A Reason (#7): at first I wasn't really crazy about it, but I like it a lot now. I like fun. and Nate's voice so that probably influenced me a bit, and despite hearing this song on the radio every single day I'm still not tired of it.

Selegend Gomez and her single Come & Get It (#8) are flawless, and you can read more about it in one of my posts below, I don't wanna repeat myself :)

Ok, I think that's everyone who I wanted to mention right now. Next time I'm doing the UK charts, so we'll see if things are a bit more interesting over there. And one final note, why are 7 out of 10 top 10 tracks collaborations? I'm not really a big fan of collaborations, but I'm obviously in the minority...

Renaissance Girls - new single by Oh Land

One of my fave singers is a Danish singer Oh Land, who has a bunch of amazing, very unique songs. The first song of hers that I ever heard was Sun Of A Gun, which is so catchy and cool.

She has 2 albums so far, Fauna and Oh Land, and most of the songs on them are very poetic, like something out of a fairytale. She is currently preparing her 3rd album. Her newest song that has just come out a few weeks ago is called Renaissance Girls and it will (I guess?) be the 1st single off the upcoming album. I'm not a big fan of the song, imo doesn't sound like her style at all... Hopefully the video will be better (should be out soon).

Anyway, if you don't like Renaissance Girls, you should listen to some other Oh Land songs, which are much much better. Her ballads are usually very good, and some of my favs are Wolf & I, Numb and Perfection.

Diana Vickers becomes Cinderella in the new single

Those who watched The X Factor UK regularly probably remember Diana Vickers. She did not win, nor even get into the finale, but she did make an album afterward (Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree) with 2 hits (Once, and my personal favorite The Boy Who Murdered Love). She is now back after a few years with a new single Cinderella, which kinda sounds like something Girls Aloud would do.

The song is really catchy even at first listen and her voice is enchanting as usual. I have just seen the video and I think I love it as much as the song. Sure, some scenes are predictable, but she looks amazing in it and the whole scenery is just perfect. <3

The lyric video is also very cool, so check it out, too!

Oh, I almost forgot, Cinderella will be the 1st single from her new album (another one with an interesting name) Music To Make Boys Cry. Can't wait for it!

Edit: The single is out (in the UK) July 21, while the album will be out September 9. I don't believe she'll be releasing either outside of UK, though.

Backstreet Boys' new single - In A World Like This

If anyone still cares, Backstreet Boys have come back with a new single. I will always be a fan of BSB so I have to say it sucks they are nowhere near as popular as they used to be, but the new song is pretty good. It's called In A World Like This, and the song also borrows the name to their new album, which comes out July 30.

It's actually quite a catchy and uplifting song and had it been released by some other, currently relevant artist, I'm sure it would have been a hit. Also, this song is a welcome change from the previous, unfortunately-titled song Permanent Stain (gross, right?), which was luckily demoted to a buzz single since it obviously wasn't well received. Despite that, it will still be included in the album. Oh well... And here are the album cover and the tracklist:

01 In a World Like This
02 Permanent Stain
03 Breathe
04 Madeleine
05 Show ‘Em (What You’re Made Of)
06 Make Believe
07 Try
08 Trust Me
09 Love Somebody
10 One Phone Call
11 Feels Like Home
12 Soldier
13 Light On (Japanese Bonus Track)

Kylie's hot new lyric vid: And then the skirt came down!

My next blog post was gonna be about the Backstreet Boys' new single, but after seeing the masterpiece that is Kylie Minogue's new lyric video, I had to change the plan. If you're up to date on the Aussie pop queen's career, you probably know she is preparing her new album and the first song from it that has hit the web is Skirt. It is still not clear whether it will also serve as the 1st single from the new album, but it just might, since the song is amazing, very Kylie, but different than her last album, Aphrodite. Here is the sexy lyric video for Skirt:

Kylie looks amazing in the vid (as always) and the song definitely has some memorable lyrics ("got u high as a kite", "and then my skirt came down") and it could turn out to be a big hit for her. Let's see if this will finally help her get another hit in the States. Can't Get You Out Of My Head was a long time ago...

Selena Gomez doesn't slow it down

One of my favorite young singers is Selena Gomez, probably because her music style reminds me a lot of Britney Spears. She hasn't really had much success in the charts, though, since none of her singles from her first 3 albums even charted into top 20 (not even the megahit Love You Like A Love Song, which we all love).
On her newest album, which comes out July 27, she is going solo (she used to record with a band called The Scene), although there really isn't much difference so far, the music is pretty much the same - which means it's good! Her 1st single off the kind of strangely named new album Stars Dance is called Come And Get It, and it went to no.6 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her best-charting single so far. Both the song and the video are amazing, check them out if you haven't already:

The 2nd single from Stars Dance is called Slow Down and in my opinion it is even better. It kinda sounds similar to many other upbeat songs out there right not, but it's really good, especially the bridge part.

When a song has ear-catching lines like "you know I'm good with mouth to mouth resuscitation", you know it's gonna be a hit. Well, hopefully, since it's nowhere to be found on the iTunes 100 and Come And Get It is still holding on pretty well in the charts. Maybe the video will come out soon, so that should help the song a bit.

Until then, take a look at the album cover of Stars Dance, which kind of just looks like a pt.2 version of her previous album's cover (When The Sun Goes Down).

I am obsessed with Bastille right now!

If you haven't heard of them yet, you absolutely have to! They're a UK band called Bastille and their lead singer is called Dan Smith. They have released one album so far, Bad Blood (came out on March 4 this year in the UK), with a big hit Pompeii, and they are amazing. Unfortunately, they're not really known outside of the UK, but they will be releasing Bad Blood in the US, too.

Another thing you should know about Bastille is that they have creepy/strange videos, so don't be surprised by that. The link to the Pompeii video (featuring black-eyed people like demons from Supernatural) is above, and here is the video to Overjoyed:

Besides Pompeii, which is the no.1 track on the album and their biggest hit (reached no.2 on the UK charts), they have many other amazing songs on the album. My favorites are the beautiful ballads Laughter Lines, Daniel In The Den and Overjoyed, as well as the faster songs Things We Lost In The Fire and the title track Bad Blood.

Things We Lost In The Fire will apparently be their 6th (!) single from this album (if Wikipedia is to be trusted), to be released September 2 in the UK. There, if you have been hating yourself for not living in the UK, now you have one more reason to.

Britney comes and the room gets sexy

Of course the logical way to start a blog about music is to start with a post about my favorite artist - Britney Spears. Since she has a bunch of amazing songs, let's go with the one everyone should know (but unfortunately not everyone does). The song is called Up N Down and I used a lyric from it to name this blog.  This song was only a bonus track on her latest album Femme Fatale, but it has definitely been a fan favorite ever since it leaked. Britney's team also obviously knows how good the song is so they made it the no.2 song on the set list of her Femme Fatale Tour, right after Hold It Against Me. Here is the song in all of its awesomeness.

Speaking of bonus tracks on Femme Fatale, there are 4 more and they're all better than many of the songs on the standard tracklist, so you WILL want to check them out if you haven't already. They're called Selfish (aka Sailfish), Don't Keep Me Waiting, He About To Lose Me and Scary. Now off to Youtube!
